Daewoo (translated from Korean means Big Universe) – is one of the largest South Korean companies, founded in 1967 under the name Daewoo Industrial. In 1992, the Uzbek state company “Uzavtosanoat” and “Daewoo” founded “UzDaewooAuto”, for manufacture of passenger cars. In 1999 was abolished by the Korean Government. In 2005, “UzDaewooAuto” bought a part of the shares from the Korean company. In July, 1996 in Asaka, there was a solemn opening ceremony of the factory, which began the production of the most popular models of affordable and reliable cars.

At the beginning of the production line, the cars were manufactured from imported components. After a while, parts were produced at the same local factory.
