Technical features of Citroën vehicles
- PureTech petrol engines. These are 3-cylinder power units which enable a reduction of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 18% when compared to engines of previous generations. The designers presented PureTech in 2012, and in 2016, it was ranked first in the “Engine of the Year” contest. This contest is held by the UKi Media & Events magazine. The C4 SpaceTourer, available since 2018, is among the cars equipped with this motor.
- EMP2 platform. This is a compact modular structure that weighs 70 kg less in comparison with its predecessor PF2. This was achieved due to use of aluminium components in particular. The platform was presented in 2013 and was used, for instance, in the C4 Picasso II minivan.
Design features
The Citroën C3 III 5-door hatchback, presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2016, was the embodiment of a new design concept of the car manufacturer. According to company representatives, their aim was to create a car for young customers, which could be budget-friendly and modern at the same time. The following design solutions are worth noting: a panoramic sunroof, numerous chrome-coated elements, and the option to choose a roof colour different from that of the other body elements. In addition, the hatchback received stylish side protective panels, referred to as Airbump, made of thermoplastic polyurethane. They are mounted on the outer sides of the doors and are capable of absorbing slight impacts.
Safety systems in Citroën models
- Connect Box. In order to contact the rescue services in case of a road accident or if the driver feels unwell, you simply need to press the “SOS” button. In the event of a severe impact, the system activates automatically. The Connect Box function is available, among others, for the C-Zero 5-door hatchback produced since 2010.
- ConnectedCAM. An HD camera is mounted behind the rearview mirror. It is activated automatically in emergency situations to record and store information about what happened. The 5-door hatchback C3 III was the first car equipped with such technology.
