Information - Axle suspension
Suspension is used in the car to ensure stability on the road while driving. It is a part of the chassis that prevents unwanted vertical movements. If there would not be suspension in the cars, all the shocks would directly affect the chassis. This is partly seen in Formula 1 cars, which are equipped with very rigid suspension. Therein, the main goal of suspension using is to increase driving safety. Moreover, it provides greater comfort.
Tires soften the rigidity of the drive. But this is not enough to soften all shocks. Thus, the springs are used, which are primarily responsible for the suspension (damping). A key indicator is the general travel of the spring on the interval between the maximum load and complete discharge (without consideration the weight of the vehicle). The longer the spring stroke is the better the damping is. However, a long suspension travel at the corners is adverse. Suspension travel can be reduced by replacing the springs or spring travel limiter setting. As a sports car often makes sharp turns, the travel of its suspension is reduced to a minimum.
A good suspension adapts to the car and driving style. Most common vehicles are not suitable for sport driving because the travel of the spring is too long. To transform an ordinary car into a sports car you need to shorten the travel of the spring. As a result the car will have a deeper camber. Bad road grip and unusual vertical movements indicate a faulty suspension. If you face these problems, immediately apply to the service station. And do not forget that it is necessary to drive slowly to avoid any risks.
