Information - Crank sensor
The impulse sensor consists of a plastic housing. Inside of it three electrically not interconnected chains are placed on a board. Each of them consists of a resistor and reed connected in series. The impulse sensor consists of a driving element or quantized scale, divided into a corresponding number of sections and sensitive elements.
The impulse sensor is mounted on the cover so, that when the gears rotates the gearbox, reed contacts S1 and S2 close when a permanent magnet passes by. The resistance change on the impulse measurer contacts is applied to an electronic corrector connected to it in order to create a sound, with a frequency proportional to the consumption. The S3 reed contacts remain open.
The impulse sensors percept the changes in the parameters of the air, humidity or temperature, react to these changes and give a corresponding impulse to the command devices. The impulse sensor can be built on base of various physical phenomena: electrical, mechanical, magnetic, and optical. The driving element changes the estate of the physical quantity, and the sensor detects this change and converts it most often in electrical impulses.
If you need to replace the impulse sensor, you can buy this item in our online store. This allows you to save time searching for parts, and, what`s more important, to save money. Indeed, our online shop offers the best prices from manufacturers, as well as the most favorable terms of delivery. You can purchase other car parts such as tensioner pulley, clutch pressure plate, door handles or trunk lid.
What is necessary to know about crankshaft and camshaft position sensors: lifetime limits, common defects and their signs, tips and recommendations
The crankshaft and camshaft position sensors have no specified lifetime limit. These car parts are replaced by necessity.
Common defects of the crankshaft sensor are mechanical damages. Moreover, a new sensor is required at wires breakage or interturn short circuit. Electric wires and contact couplings of the camshaft position sensor are mostly apt to damages. Cracks of the toothed disc, displacement of fasteners and deformation also lead to component replacement.
“Check Engine” indicator, lit on the dashboard, will be the first to indicate failure of the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Also components defectiveness may be indicated by troubled start and knocking of the engine, loss of its power, spontaneous decreasing or increasing of rpm, unstable engine speed at idling.
Troubleshooting of the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors is performed at a service station. First of all, specialists will inspect the part with the help of computer diagnostics. This is the most reliable method of the timing sensor and camshaft sensor checking. Moreover, visual inspection of components condition may be necessary.
It is better to perform replacement of the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors at a service station, as this work requires high accuracy. If you want to demount the parts on your own, then necessarily remove the negative terminal from the battery, unplug the connectors of the sensors. After this you can unscrew fastening bolts and remove the components. New parts are installed in the order reverse to dismantling.
It is important to examine condition of a sealing ring. If damages were found on the part, it should be replaced together with the sensor.
