Information - Brake power regulator
Use of vacuum energy in the inlet pipe of the engine provides hydraulic brake booster operation. This process provides creation of additional fluid pressure in the hydraulic brake system that permits to get a significant effort in the brake mechanisms with very little effort on the brake pedal. Such hydraulic vacuum brake boosters are used both in motor cars and trucks. The main components of the booster are cylinder with a control valve and a chamber. The hydraulic booster is connected by specific pipelines to the main brake cylinder engine, intake pipe and brakes spacer.
When you press the brake pedal, fluid flows from the brake master cylinder through the ball valve in the piston to the brake booster. As the system pressure increases, the control valve piston rises and closes the vacuum valve. At the same time the bleeder valve opens. Atmospheric air passes through the filter into the cavity, where the vacuum is reduced. Due to the fact that in another chamber vacuum is maintained, the difference in pressure moves the diaphragm and compresses the spring. There are two forces that affect the booster piston. These are fluid pressure from the master brake cylinder and the pressure from the diaphragm, which increases the braking effect.
When the pedal is released, the fluid pressure at the control valve lowers, its diaphragm sags. In the result the vacuum valve, which connects the chambers, opens. When the pressure in the chamber drops, all the moving parts of the chamber and cylinder return to their original position. This causes releasing of brake. If the hydraulic vacuum booster is faulty, the drive operates from the pedal of the master brake cylinder with much less efficiency. As for the booster replacement, it is required to replace it in the car workshop. What you need to know about brake force regulator replacement: lifetime limits, common defects and their signs, tips and recommendations
The brake force regulator has no certain service life limits, and is replaced if necessary. Brake liquid quality influences component service life.
The brake pressure regulator is to be replaced in case of valve jamming and depressurization. Defects are detected by necessity of additional effort at pedal pressing, together with lowered braking efficiency, and also brake liquid leakage. Moreover, there can be car deviation from straight at sharp braking.
For brake force regulator check you need to perform its visual inspection for damages, brake liquid stains. Service station specialists will perform more precise diagnostics, measuring pressure in system circuits.
In order to replace the brake force regulator you should also address to a service station because a new part can require adjustment after installation. Moreover, the replacement algorithm depends on the car model. In whole, the procedure only consists in cleaning the unit, unscrewing brake hoses, and installing caps on them which prevent brake liquid leakage. Then the defective regulator is removed, after having the fastening bolts unscrewed, and a new component is installed.
