Technical features of Kia vehicles

• Powerful petrol twin-turbo Lambda engines with 3.3 litres of displacement and direct fuel injection. The output of these motors is 365 hp. This engine was first installed in 2018 on the Stinger 5-door hatchback. The same year it was counted among the Top 10 Best engines according to the American magazine “Ward’s Auto”.

It monitors road conditions and car speed aiming to increase car manoeuvrability. Moreover, the all-wheel drive system can be adjusted by selecting, for instance, the fuel economy or the sport mode.

Design features

Peter Schreyer and Tom Kearns developed the exterior and interior designs of these cars. Thanks to them, Kia cars won the Red Dot Award for its design seven times in a row: 2010 through 2017. The award is given by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. In 2017, the manufacturer received three awards at once: for the designs of the Rio and Niro 5-door hatchbacks as well as the Optima station wagon.

Straight and sharp lines prevail in design of the cars. This design principle was expressed in the exterior of the third generation of Ceed 5-door hatchback, available since 2018. A black radiator grille with chrome edging, LED daytime running lights, a compact rear spoiler, and 16-inch light alloy wheel rims emphasize neat design of the car. The cabin is also characterized by minimalism. A multi-functional 8-inch touchscreen display simplifies the vehicle’s operation.

Safety systems in Kia models

Each modern car of the make is equipped with Drive Wise driver assistance system. It includes cruise-control (SSC), which helps maintain a safe distance to the car moving ahead in traffic jam, and the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). Moreover, these cars feature collision warning (FCW) and emergency braking systems (FCA).

VSM active control, which stabilizes body position in cornering and off-road driving, is available for the Sportage QL crossover. The parking assistant SPAS is offered for the second generation of the Soul 5-door hatchback. It automatically finds a suitable parking space and sets a trajectory for the vehicle.
