Changing the Engine oil in your BMW 5 Series E60: what you need to know
We recommend changing the Engine oil in a 07.2003 - 12.2009 E60 every 15.000 kilometres. However, driving in traffic jams and over short distances leads to needing more frequent oil changes.
If the Oil in your BMW 5 Series E60 has reached the end of its service life, this is indicated by:
- rapid blackening and thickening
- white emulsion on the dipstick
- excessive engine noise.
Failing to carry out regular maintenance of the lubrication system on All-wheel Drive, Rear-Wheel Drive BMW 5 Series E60 cars will accelerate engine wear. Engine components become corroded and covered in sludge and carbon deposits.
The quantity of Car oil needed depends on the engine. When selecting a lubricant for Diesel, Petrol versions of this Saloon, consider the engine displacement (2.0 - 5.0 litres) and power output: 150, 507 hp.
