Changing the Engine oil in your BMW 1 Series F20: what you need to know
We recommend changing the Engine oil in a 03.2012 - 06.2019 F20 every 15.000 kilometres. However, driving in traffic jams and over short distances leads to needing more frequent oil changes.
If the Oil in your BMW 1 Series F20 has reached the end of its service life, this is indicated by:
- rapid blackening and thickening
- white emulsion on the dipstick
- excessive engine noise.
Failing to carry out regular maintenance of the lubrication system on All-wheel Drive, Rear-Wheel Drive BMW 1 Series F20 cars will accelerate engine wear. Engine components become corroded and covered in sludge and carbon deposits.
The quantity of Car oil needed depends on the engine. When selecting a lubricant for Diesel, Petrol, Petrol/Ethanol versions of this Hatchback, consider the engine displacement (1.5 - 3.0 litres) and power output: 95, 340 hp.
