Design features

After a long era of the “Kinetic Design” philosophy, which the manufacturer used since 2000, the Evos concept-car became the milestone marking the turn to a new strategy. It was unveiled at the International Motor Show Germany in 2011. The new conception was called “Kinetic design 2.0”. Stefan Lamm, the company’s designer, worked on car appearance. Special features of this style are trapezoidal air inlets under the radiator grilles, a streamlined body with numerous sculptured elements, and narrow headlights located along the bonnet. The concept car had gull-wing side doors, but this feature is not used in production cars.

Safety systems in Ford models

• Auto High-Beam Headlamps. This system temporarily switches to low beams when oncoming vehicles are detected, and back to high beams after passing them. This way it avoids blinding other drivers. For instance, estate car and 5-door liftback Mondeo Mk Vs are equipped with this technology.
• Automatic braking assist Active City Stop. Its operation is based on a light sensor that quickly detects dangerous situations on the road. The system stops the car safely, which excludes the possibility of collisions at a speed of up to 15 km/h. The system is used, for example, in the estate car and 5-door hatchback Focus C519s that were available since 2018.
